There's a lot of science, the more options we consider, the more diverse perspectives we bring to bear on a decision, the higher quality, of those decisions - Shani Harmon
But we tend to bring people together, Hierarchy takes over, bad meeting habits take over, and the decision-making doesn't get better, because a couple of people are making all the decisions - Shani Harmon
--------------------------------------
Take it back to decision-making.
So many layers to getting to better decisions with better meeting discipline, starting with having significantly fewer meetings. Move more discovery, analysis, and data collection to async.
Then, when the group comes together for a laser-focused engaged synchronous time together, to overcome specific challenges that need the group's attention (having checked all the minor boxes offline, async).
When people assemble to work the hardest challenges, on a project that's important to them, where they are an integrated part of the process, with a vested interest in the outcome, you don't have to worry about engagement.
We all know what the issues are, and how to fix them.
Shani teaches us to acknowledge the barriers to adoption so they can be removed.
