Managing fear is an important skill for leaders - Tony Jamous

I developed a higher sensitivity to fear... because I was in a war zone environment for the first ten years of my life. It's not sensitivity to fear; it's just sensitivity. - Tony Jamous

Having courage is not running away from your fear. You still have the fear, but not act on it; it's to become non-reactive to fear. - Tony Jamous

You have to be there for yourself as a leader to process these emotions so that you don't go and snap at your team, creating behavior that generates fear in the system. - Tony Jamous

Tony was born into a Civil War.

It gave him a unique relationship with fear, sensitivity, and courage.

He still applies those concepts to leadership, being careful to stay as non-reactive as possible, to maintain the emotional safety in the organizational culture, avoiding toxicity, and emotional outbursts that increase anxiety and reduce organizational effectiveness.

Sustainable leadership
I had never heard the term until this interview.
We can all learn from Tony's very tough times.
Too many children are still being born into war.
Very much worth a listen.

Thanks for sharing Tony.
