Q-Have you seen technology make the life of the nurse much better?

A-I think you wouldn't find a single health care provider that would say technology has necessarily made it better. It certainly arguably made it safer because we have this continuous medical record that is fantastic. - Michelle Ossmann

But there's a lot of work on the fatigue associated with constantly hearing beeps and, not being able to rely on this natural perceptual apparatus we have on our bodies called eyes and ears. That allow you to naturally appreciate what's happening around you. - Michelle Ossmann

Patient satisfaction is linked primarily to the quality of the conversation with the nurses. That comes down to who we are as human beings desiring the face-to-face that someone sat with you listened to you, helped you. - Michelle Ossmann

------

All coins have two sides.

And all actions have reactions, both positive and negative.
Does the positive outweigh the negative in terms of safety? Sounds like a yes.
Can it be a distraction that negatively impacts a nurses ability to deliver for the patients? Yes.
Can we leverage the benefit, while still acknowledging, and trying to address the negative. Absolutely.

Michelle brings such a unique perspective to your work, as a former nurse, with a focus on design, and deep understanding of the power of hospitality rituals on our experience.

Not your typical future of work talking points.
