Instead, we put our efforts towards 'Real Estate 2030' a ten-year look ahead, And the headline article was called 'The Fluid Workplace.' The idea that the workplace was going to be much more fluid and the office was almost going to become more of a clubhouse where people came together to collaborate and to have a sense of belonging. Covid was the accelerant to changes that were already underway.
How serendipitous that Julie and her team wrote the Fluid Workplace, in 2019.
Interesting to note, that while the available data provided evidence of a significant change already underfoot, the survey respondents didn't change their 'sentiment' answers enough to do the regular 2019 survey.
Listen to your customers.
But don't assume customers are good at predicting future change.
Expand your data universe to get a better handle on what's really going on, and to try and get ahead of trend lines.
