They aren’t promoting long term connections

1

We have been studying teams for a long time, team effectiveness. We were really surprised that so many people working on teams were feeling lonely and disconnected from their colleagues, even on their own team. - Connie Noonan Hadley

That was a puzzle because we thought, at least the team is going to provide that level of connection. And what we found is that's not always the case. - Connie Noonan Hadley

A lot of it’s because of how we design teams. They're designed in such a way that they really aren’t promoting long term connections, or even the amount of time that, and opportunity that people need to get to know each other. - Connie Noonan Hadley

One must intentionally design and implement team connection actions, behaviors, and rituals. But we are a team. It just doesn't happen on it's own, and when attention is split and divided again and again, hard to build connection.

Be intentional - Stop cutting and take a minute to sharpen the saw.
Invest in the people and process.
Lonely does not yield one's best work
(except perhaps the poet or lyricist)

Thanks again Connie
