We never have perfect context

1

Q - You had a quote there. You said ‘Share strong opinions loosely held.’ I love this. What does that mean and why is that really a formula for success? -

A - This is my favorite thing. I've built a lot of technology to help teams transform how they work for a long time. My best learning from being a product manager was this.

That you really want to be clear about your point of view, and that is what helps the team the most. But you need to always be ready to integrate new information. - Molly Sands

We never have perfect context. We can always learn from other people around us. We can always learn more and come up with better solutions. As a leader, be really clear about your vision, what you want to accomplish, and what success looks like. But you always need to be updating that. When I learn something that I didn't know before. That might mean that I need to update what my strong opinion is. - Molly Sands

Strong Opinions, Loosely Held

I hadn't heard that before. And as with most of life's lessons, two sides of the same coin.

According to ChatGPT, the phrase was coined by Paul Saffo, Silicon Valley technology forecaster and professor at Stanford University.

So fun to sit down with Molly in person in Anaheim at Team '25
